Betty Field loved to read. For her, books (especially mysteries) were a great source of enjoyment. She always felt that children should read so that they would write, and write so that they would read. Betty served as President of the Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District and was active in the acquisition of funds to build East Library. She continued as an active force in acquiring funds for library books. The Annual Betty Field Memorial Youth Writing Contest is a tribute to Betty and her love for children, for books, and for mystery stories.
